Volunteer Educational Program Creator

We’re looking for a creative, resourceful and passionate person who has experience in creating/developing educational content centred upon plastic pollution and environmental awareness. The Educational Program Creator will report to the Education Director and will work with the marketing team to develop educational materials. Deep Blue Cleanup is a non-government organization working to empower youth through education to decrease plastic pollution.

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and develop online content with specific relation to plastic pollution and environmental awareness

  • Present online lessons (if comfortable) that provide engaging and fun content to elementary students

  • Liaise with other volunteers to coordinate task management, clearly communicate updates/progress and keep track of project progress

  • Attend regular meetings to receive updates on various projects

  • Be familiar with the Ottawa/BC curriculum and understand related themes and how to implement these in lessons

Experience/ Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience of working with children of high school and/or elementary age

  • Environmental education experience 

  • Lesson planning experience

  • Experience in delivering youth programs/workshops

  • Experience of working with a non-profit or Charity

  • Bachelor degree in Environmental Science/Geography/Ecology/Marine Biology

  • Bachelor of Education is preferable

Job Type: Volunteer (remote)

Hours per Month: Minimum 10 hours 

Start Date: Immediately
